Samuel's Family: Double Diagnosis

Sweet baby Samuel’s family is doubly impacted with the diagnosis of cancer. Born in April 2020, Samuel was diagnosed with MLD (Metachromatic Leukodystrophy), a rare genetic disease, at just one-month-old. His mother is unable to work because one of her older sons, Emmanuel (age 4), also has MLD and requires total care. Both Samuel’s mother and grandmother take turns caring for both children in addition to their sister and brother.

With the assistance of the Hands for Holly Fund, a grant was provided to Samuel’s family and was immediately issued to help with their utility payments, allowing the family to focus on his care.
