Meet Nala!
Nala recently turned three, and yet she has already battled more health obstacles than most do in a lifetime.
In July 2018, Nala was initially diagnosed with Wilms Tumor. She was only 2-months-old at the time, and she underwent chemotherapy until March of 2019.
In December of 2020, routine scans showed an ovarian lesion which doctors thought was a cyst.
In February of 2021, the cyst had enlarged and they discovered that she had a secondary carcinoma of her ovary.
Nala recently had surgery, and her family is awaiting a treatment plan.
Because of the unknown circumstances of her latest diagnosis, Nala’s mother took time off work through FMLA.
Not working has caused a financial strain as her mother continues to care for Nala and her 2 siblings, aged nine and six.

With the assistance of the Hands for Holly Memorial Fund, a grant was issued to assist with their rent, auto loan, and household expenses while their family focuses on Nala’s care. A Financial Guidebook was given to the family to provide further financial education and budget tools alongside the emergency funding.
From Nala's family,
