The Hands for Holly Fund held its second annual Great Gatsby Party on May 18, 2018, at the Oak Room and raised a total of $125,000. We exceeded our goals and are so happy by this result! Through a silent auction, live auction, charitable donations, and raffle at the Great Gatsby Party, the organization was able to raise funds for approximately 100 families struggling to pay rent, a car payment, electricity bills, or even a flight to obtain a second opinion.
“Hands for Holly has truly changed how I’m able to do my job,” said Jody Cunningham, social worker at Levine Children’s Hospital. “ Housing in Charlotte is very expensive. Most of our families are barely able to pay their rent, which is around $900 to $1,000 per month. So, when Hands for Holly donated the funds to the hospital and their grants were $1,500 per family...life changing.”
We couldn't have pulled off this event without our army of volunteers, sponsors, and donors. "I was so impressed with the organization and especially how much Hands for Holly has done for families in such a relatively short period of time," said Tricia Cogar, a volunteer from ECM Solutions.
Our emcee's Helene Benigno and Derek Davenport helped keep the night going and we were so happy to have them. "I felt so happy and honored to be able to assist my sister Chris in this amazingly worthwhile cause," said Benigno. "Holly was an amazing person with a massive heart. To have Hands for Holly as her legacy is a perfect fit for my niece who only wanted to make people's lives a little better. It was an absolute blast to MC this event along with my boyfriend Derek. I was so impressed with the dedication, support and generosity from so many people in the Charlotte community."
“At the Gatsby, we expressed how blessed we feel to have supporters and donors like you,” said Christine Wade, executive director of the Hands for Holly Fund, in an email to attendees. “I cannot tell you how humbled, honored, and grateful I am for you!”
