Hands For Holly Fund Partners With Levine Children's Hospital and the Carolinas HealthCare Found

Hands For Holly Fund Donates More Than $60,000 To Local Families In Crisis

The Hands for Holly Fund Board had a pressing question: How can we reach the greatest number of families in need and remain emotionally objective while working through the heartbreaking pleas for help? The answer: A partnership with Carolinas HealthCare System’s Levine Children's Hospital.

Located on the main campus of Carolinas Medical Center, Levine Children’s Hospital is the most comprehensive facility of its type between Atlanta, Georgia and Washington, D.C. In recent years, the hospital has grown to include more than 30 pediatric specialties and has been recognized as one of “America’s Best Children’s Hospitals” by U.S. News & World Report. Levine Children’s Hospital also treats more pediatric patients per day than any other hospital in North Carolina.

The mission of Hands for Holly Fund is to support deserving families who require emergency financial assistance to cover expenses such as utility bills and transportation. Working with Levine Children’s Hospital social workers to identify families in need, contributions from the Hands for Holly Fund, administered by Carolinas HealthCare Foundation, will allow families to focus on what is most important: the health of their child. The 501(c)3 nonprofit began from the vision of Holly Wade, a 14-year-old girl who was treated at Levine Children's Hospital, but tragically lost her battle with brain cancer on July 1, 2016.

Christine Wade, Executive Director of Hands For Holly Fund, said, "We feel blessed to have been given the opportunity to donate more than $60,000 in funds to be used by families in crisis...and we're just getting started! Our work is only possible through the generosity of the community. Thank you to all who have supported our vision over the last nine months to lift burdens, love family and serve community."

Hands for Holly Fund's next fundraising event will be held on May 12, 2017, at The Oak Room in Charlotte. The evening will be a Gatsby-Themed Benefit. For more information on Hands for Holly Fund, the Gatsby Benefit or to donate, visit their website: www.handsforholly.org
